12th and 12th, Screven up Next

Doug Smith Motorsports scored a pair of 12th place finishes in our most recent Southern All Star Series events. The first came in late May against a field of 37 cars at Cleveland Speedway. The latter came on June 12th at Mountain Raceway in Maryville, TN. Our next SAS event will be a seven hour road trip over to Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA.

Louisiana’s Scott Creel leads the Southern All Stars point standings coming in to the Screven event and chasing him in the standings are defending SAS Champion Randy Weaver, Hall of Fame driver Freddy Smith, Kentuckian Doug Smith and Virginia’s Daniel Baggerly.

North Georgia
Doug Smith Motorsports raced to a 16th place finish on Saturday night in Southern All Stars competition at North Georgia Speedway. This was our first trip to the 1/3 mile high banked clay oval in Chatsworth, GA and it produced another exciting night of racing. Our next Southern All Stars race will be a return visit to Cleveland Speedway on May 22nd.

SAS @ Clayhill, North Georgia Up Next
The most recent event for Doug Smith Motorsports was a trip out west to the wonderful Clayhill Motorsports Park in Atwood, TN for a $7,500 to win Southern All Stars event. It was out first trip out there and we were greeted with an extremely nice facility but in the end it wasn't so nice to us. After a night of bad luck we were forced out of the race early and were credited with a 19th place finish. Out next race is this coming Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA. This will be yet another first time visit for our race team as we continue to follow the Southern All Stars tour.

Fourteenth at Toccoa
Doug Smith Motorsports visited another track for the first time over the weekend as we traveled to Toccoa Speedway for a $5,000 to win Southern All Stars event. Doug started on the tail of the field but was able to run competitively and pick off several positions early in the race. After battling for positions all race long we were credited with 14th and look forward to going back to Toccoa later in the season. Up next is another road trip and first time visit to the 3/8 mile Clayhill Speedway in Atwood, TN for a $7,500 to win Southern All Stars event. Thanks for visiting us on the web and we'll see you at the races!

A Game of Survival at Lavonia
Doug Smith Motorsports survived a rough night at Lavonia Speedway to claim a 13th place finish in the Southern All Stars feature event. We were just glad to bring the car home in one piece after extremely rough track conditions meant most drivers had to focus on just getting around the track instead of actually racing against each other. Next week we head to Toccoa Speedway for another $5,000 SAS event.
