Ninth at Wartburg
After a month of rainouts Doug Smith Motorsports was credited with a 9th place finish on Friday night at the Wartburg Speedway Tennessee Thunder Series event. On Saturday the team traveled to Mountain Raceway where once again the rain hit just after the pit meeting. Next weekend the team will travel to Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday night for another Tennessee Thunder series event. The following night our tentative plan is to compete with the Southern All Stars at Cleveland Speedway.

After four races on the Tennessee Thunder tour we are the top rookie contender and currently 7th in series standings with a total of 464 points, only 43 markers out of the top five.

Preparing for 2009
This winter Doug Smith Motorsports & Double H Race Fabrication are in the process of relocating from Somerset, KY to Harriman, TN. Our new race shop is slowly taking shape as we look forward to debuting a new 08' Rayburn and kicking off another racing season. At the moment we plan to compete the full schedule in either the Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series or the Southern Regional Racing Series.

Tripler Header Weekend
It was a busy weekend for Doug Smith Motorsports as the team traveled to Eastern Kentucky on Friday & Saturday for a pair of Battle of the Bluegrass events at Mountain Motor and 201 Speedways. Then on Sunday we traveled to Tazewell Speedway for an Advance Thunder race. Our best finish of the weekend came on Saturday night at 201 where we placed 16th in the feature among the 37 entries on hand. Our next scheduled event will be the Iron Man race at Richmond Raceway.

10th at Wartburg
Doug Smith Motorsports was credited with a 10th place finish on Friday night at the Wartburg Speedway Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series event. Next weekend the team will travel to either Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, GA for another Advance Auto Parts Thunder series event or go back to Crossville Raceway to compete with the Southern Regional Racing Series.

Disappointment at Richmond
The second night of the Butterball Memorial just didn't go well as we could never get a handle on the car after hotlaps and qualifying.  A decent heat race would have put us starting fourth in the B-Main but we were deemed to have jumped a  restart during the heat, resulting in us having to start on the tail of the B-Main. The choice was made to withdraw the car rather than risk tearing it up or receiving another bogus call. We would like to thank JDB Motorsports for the opportunity to drive their car this weekend and we wish them success in the future.  Doug Smith Motorsports will be back in action this week for the Southern Nationals events at Crossville, Cleveland, and possibly Tazewell.
